The ritual prayers are inspired by the book The Key to the Kalevala which is available on Amazon.com. The Key is a translation and interpretation of The Kalevala which is also available on Amazon.com.
The Kalevala begins with the creation of the world. Soon we are introduced to various characters who represent magic, knowledge, ignorance, love and loss.
Within the Runes of the Kalevala are where we find lessons for life, wizardry and magic.
Soon a hero forges a sacred object called The Sampo. It is stolen and hidden by dark forces. The heros are sent to retireve it and use cunning and magic to survive, defeat death and retrieve the item.
An asterisk marks a line that is taken directly from the translation in The Key to the Kalevala
You are welcome to use them as you wish as meditative or power prayers.
The Beginning
From the forests of our ancestors,
Across the precious water,
Past the dry and desolate desert
Comes the power of the ages.
In the rainforest sits a Shaman,
In her hand she holds the Sampo,
To the Goddess she does bow down
For the answer to her question.
And she says:
Oh Goddess Tell me of deep origins, of eternal things **
And from Her glorious bosom,
The Goddess she does answer,
The answer for us only,
As She rides the crest of water
Upon the mighty ocean
From whence She bore the world.
And She says:
Come all you wiches,
Seek the Sampo - Seek the light
Come all you dreamers
Feel your power and your might.
From the forests to the waters to the desert dry with death
I set you on your way
I clear a lovely path
The road ahead is safe and warm, your work shall spring from light
Do your work as you shall need
As I guard you here tonight.
